New weather disturbance forms in the Pacific; PAGASA expects two more typhoons

Even as tropical depression Ruby continues to work its way across the country, a new weather disturbance forms in the Pacific Ocean, reports InterAksyon. However, weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) believes it is too early to say whether the weather disturbance will strengthen and become a typhoon. According to the report, if the weather disturbance becomes a low pressure area, it will take the name Señang once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Early signs show possibilities it would follow the same track taken by Ruby, if it becomes a storm; revealed PAGASA officer-in-charge Landrico Dalida Jr.

Two more typhoons

Ruby is on its way out the Philippines, but the storm will not be the last to hit the country this year. The weather bureau revealed the possibility of two more typhoons hitting the Philippines this month, causing added problems as the country prepares for the Christmas season. If Señang develops and moves across the areas hit by Ruby, it would present a huge challenge to the local officials whose constituents are still struggling to get over the damage done by the storm as well as last year’s super typhoon Yolanda.

From Yolanda to Ruby to Señang?

The Yolanda corridor was spared from the storms that passed the country this year; until Ruby came along. Though the storm did not take the same path as Yolanda, it still passed through areas damaged by the super typhoon. To date, many of the people who have remained in these areas are still living in tents and makeshift bunkhouses; most of which were either flattened or heavily damaged by Ruby. So, Señang, whether a weak or strong typhoon, will be a huge problem in these areas. News Source(s) : InterAksyon, PAGASA/DOST
